002 Play [Video || Action]

[Tim is out in the park with a football. He's rigged up an old tire to swing from a tree limb and he's hammering the football through the tire. He jogs out to get the football then returns to do it again. Throwing passes aren't really his thing but catching passes takes more than one person. He actually looks fairly thoughtful for a change rather than confused. ]

Anybody wanna play catch or want to learn?

[He though to add a please to that but decided against it. The place had been different since Reid had left and now he was just trying to adjust to the change.

He took a few steps back, nodding at the ball.] You play?

Yeah. Just got back from winnin' state at home. You?

Yeah. Used to play for Northwestern before a bad tackle blew my knee out.

[Tim lets out an impressed whistle.] Got a coupla friends who'll probably end up playin' college ball.

It's fun. I used to have dreams of going pro. If you can get that far, probably even more fun.

I do all right with a coupla rally girls. [Read: He talks them into doing his homework while he drinks and plays football.]

Rally girls? [Derek is confused, he thought they were talking about grades?]

Yeah. You know, every football player gets at least one rally girl. She does whatever you need to get ready for the game. Bake cookies, bring beer [A smirk and his eyebrows go up] whatever.

I never had rally girls. The cheerleaders would bake us cookies and stuff but it was more of an entire organization thing. Yours sound like fun though.

Yeah. I miss rally girls. [He sighs a little bit at that.] So college don't got 'em either? [His hopes are crumbling now.]

College? No. That would be a pretty big distraction. College it's all about stats and who's in and out and who's going pro.

Nah, see that's the beauty of rally girls. You don't gotta focus on anythin' except football. You need to eat, they'll get your food. You need beer, they'll get that. Homework, it's done. all you have to worry about is football.

Passin' ain't really my game. I'm a fullback. [He throws the ball anyway. It's a good pass. Clearly not QB quality but a good pass.]

[Derek catches the ball easily, dancing back a few feet to do so.] Not bad! I was a receiver so I only really know how to catch aside from when I used to play street ball as a kid. In street ball you do a little of everything.

Yeah. We goof off in the off season, sometimes during the season so I can throw a pass but I'm better at hitting people and catching.

That's why I joined an FBI team that goes out in the field. I still get to tackle.

[Derek taps the ball twice with his other hand and then lets it sail through the air toward Tim.]

Never really got that. [Tim has always been the idiot that takes the consequences. Of course he hasn't been in that much trouble yet]
