What do ya'll do between curses? Seems sorta...borin' and I come from Dillon.

That's very gentlemanly. More so than she expected, but she gratefully accepts, settling down on the ground with her skirts around her so that her legs and feet are completely swallowed by them.

"At least it is not very cold yet."

He is capable. Honestly though it was more practical thinking. He's pretty sure she needs help sitting on the ground in all those skirts.

He sits down beside her and nods. "Yeah. Not lookin' forward to that. Where I'm from in Texas, it ain't very cold."

It is surprising how well one can move when used to the skirts, but physical limitations do still apply, so she really is grateful for the consideration.

"Really? We had some very cold winters in New York, and then of course the London weather was not very pleasant."

He goes to NYC in s3 and it is AWESOME

"Good reason for me to stay in Texas."

He takes a long sip of his beer. "Can't even imagine bein' in London."

"i did not particularly enjoy London, though that might not be the city's fault and more that of certain inhabitants, and my arrival and reasons for arrival..." Mainly her brother deceiving her, the sisters kidnapping her and forcing her to change, and of course Mortmain.

Tim considers that. She'd told him a little bit of it when they were in the library but not near all of it.

"Yeah, movin' there like that had to be a bitch."

In some ways he can sympathize with her losing her parents and in others, not at all. His parents had always been crappy so when they'd ditched him and Billy it had been kind of expected.

"In retrospect perhaps I should have remained in new York, though of course there was nothing for me there. But it is too late for regrets now, and I am here anyhow."

And Tessa really does like being in the City. Sure, the curses range from inconvenient to terrifying, but less so than what Mortmain might do to her. At least the curses always end. And there is the library, and people like Tim.

She smiles at him, not without some sadness, but trying.

"Pretty sure we all got things we don't think we shoulda done."

He recognizes that she's trying and he honestly doesn't know how to help. Tim copes with things in one of three ways: booze, hitting people or having sex. He's not going to hit her, the booze is in progress and the sex he's pretty sure is out of the question for the moment.

The fact that he is listening without judging is already helping. "Yes, I do suppose you are quite right in that." Tessa nods a little and takes another sip of the wine.

He drains his beer, shoves the bottle in a bag and opens another one. He really does drink way too much for a sixteen year old. It is absolutely his way of coping though.

"Coach always says you just gotta forget how you screwed up a play and move onto the next one. Pretty sure life is like that too."

Tessa's brother drank and gambled, and Will makes ample reference to drinking too much. In a way, she is used to it, though that does not mean she approves. Still, considering that she is sipping her wine as well, she can hardly say anything.

"Coach seems a very wise person."

Tim knows it's not a good way to cope. He just doesn't know how else to cope and it's the easiest method in his world.

"Yeah. Coach is cool. He just started coachin' the team this year."

Coach is one of the few people Tim respects and that can talk him into doing things.
