[ Tessa looks away with a hint of a blush. They're indecent, okay. ]

Jeans. And a skirt. And a leather jacket.

[He sees that bit of a blush.]

Yeah? Sounds like they'd look good on you.

Hardly. [ Torn between being pleased that he'd think so and mortified that she's not only bought but also worn them once. ]

I should think not. [ Because he will not see her in those clothes anytime soon. Particularly not that skirt. She's not touching that skirt again. ]

Well then you ain't allowed to beat up on yourself 'less you're gonna get other opinions. [He would almost absolutely love the skirt.]

They are not very suitable. [ He would. ]

The clothes? [He shrugs] Sorta one of those right clothes for the right job sorta things, ain't it?

I do not think I'm very likely to do any sort of job where such clothes would be appropriate.

Well there's runnin'. You need clothes for that. It'd be like me playin' football in a tuxedo. [pause] Or hell, me in a tux at all.

I'm certain you would look quite fashionable in a tux. [ Smiling. ] You do have a point about the running.

I look like a pig dressed in a tutu. [Out of place he means of course.] See. Your dresses look good, they're just not practical for everythin'.

No, at times the skirts get a little in the way.

Yeah, just imagine it. It'd look ridiculous. Pretty much how I think I'd look in a tux.

[He glances over at the dress and nods.] You just gotta dress for what you're doin'.

I do believe you would manage to look at least somewhat better than a pig in a dancer's clothes. [ Teasing now, but it's the truth. ]

Mostly I sit and read, or sometimes go for walks. This is perfectly suitable for my purposes.

[He smirks a little and shrugs. The truth is he looks fantastic in a tux. He just doesn't like them much.]

Maybe sometime you'll get me in one.

[He nods a little.]

We're gonna get you doin' other stuff though.

[ He would probably look great in just about anything, but Tessa would rather like to see him in a tux now. ]

It would be more suitable to you than the clothes I bought while cursed are for me. They do wear tuxes in your time still, do they not?

[ She inclines her head in agreement. ] Yes, it does rather seem so.

[The City does tend to have dances and the like. He wears his cowboy boots with it.]

Yeah for school dances and stuff. It's a special occasion sorta thing. You rent 'em.

[They're approaching the store now and he holds the door open for her.]

School dances? [ Look, Tessa never went to school. Or to dances. Not really. Which is why there's a wistful note in her voice. ]

Yes. I would not wish to do other things all the time, but it is quite interesting to be more diverse.

And I would not like that very much. Though theoretically the library does seem to have enough books to entertain me for quite a while.

Big dance that you have before you graduate. The girls dress up in sparkly dresses and the guys where tuxes.

Yeah you'll get pasty and forget how to talk to people though.
