[Tim is outside on the sidewalk in front of the youth center. He's got on sweats and a tank top along with a pair of tennis shoes for a change. He's been out jogging.]

Sort of figured if things get crazy again, runnin' might come in kinda handy.

As is the case with most exercise, I should think.

[Tim thinks about it a second and then nods.]

Yeah. Pretty much. You wanna stop anywhere else before we get back to the youth center?

[ Tessa thinks for a moment. ]

No, I think not. I'll try these on.

[Tim nods and heads toward the youth center then, her hand still in his.]

Think you'll be alright with 'em. Still gonna take gettin' used to though.

Oh, yes.

[ It will take so much getting used to. Those are trousers. For phyiscal exercise, and loose, granted, but still.

She likes holding his hand, so she smiles up at him. ]

Can't blame you, y'know. I hate changes too. They're freakin' scary and you never know how they're gonna end up or where that's gonna leave you.

[ Sometimes, Tim is surprisingly insightful.

Very quietly: ] I feel that if I assimilate to this culture and world too much, I will lose who I am. And I already do not know who or what that is.

[He has his moments.

he's quiet for a long moment, considering her words.]

Like, I don't know what I am if I don't play football. I figure...nobody knows who the hell they are. Not me, not even Lyla Garrity back home who acts like she's got it all together and then some. It's sorta somethin' you figure out 'long the way.

[ Nodding slowly. ]

I suppose it is not a static thing, is it? Or it does not have to be.

Nope. Probably shouldn't be.

Thank you. [ Squeezing his hand a little, briefly. ]

[He shrugs a bit in response.]

No problem.

[And they're at the youth center. He does hold the door open for her walking into the building.]

I'll go try these on, shall I?

[ And with some newfound resolve, she decides to show him what they look like, too. ]

Yeah, I'll be in here. [He plops down on one of the couches and turns on the TV, not knowing whether she's going to come out and show him and just assure him that they fit.]

[ She'll come out a little later, clearly self-conscious but with her head held high regardless. ]

I think they fit. [ Tugging at the shirt a little. ]

[Tim looks up when she comes in, a grin creeping across his face and he nods.]

Yeah. They look good on ya.

They're very different. [ But not necessarily in a bad way. They're comfortable. ]

You think they'll work out for runnin' and hittin' the punchin' bag down there?

[ Tugging on the shirt sleeves. ]

I expect so. They're-- [ might as well say it ] they're quite comfortable.

[Tim chuckles a bit at that.]

Well they oughta be more comfortable than the whole get up you're used to.

They rather are, though for now the strangeness of wearing them still outweighs the comfort of wearing them.

So all them dresses ain't really that comfortable? You just wear 'em 'cause it's what you know? Not knockin' it. Just curious.

They're not as comfortable as this. But I do think I prefer the way they look.

[Tim nods.] I get that. The dresses look good on you anyhow.

They are rather flattering, and I am very much used to them.
