[ Tessa's in her room at the youth center, as usual with her nose in a book, but when her device pings, as it is wont to do when there is a network post, she does it look over and, seeing it's from Tim, decides to reply. ]

Perhaps I should also do such a thing. [ The thought had never even crossed Tessa's mind. She was not a shadowhunter after all. But not many people here were, only Jace and Will, and yet any number of people tried to take preventive measures to deal with the curses. Why shouldn't Tessa? ]

I am doing rather well. Less productive than you, perhaps, but I've been reading about the history of the US, the history at least that happened after my time.

You can go runnin' with me if you want. Not sure you're gonna be able to in that dress though.

I do not think I would be able to keep up with you even if I wore something other than a dress.

[ She smiles back. ]

I suppose catching up is exactly what this is, in a way. I am trying to-- learn about all the things many people here know but that happened after my time.

Sorry, not much help there. I can tell you what things are like in Dillon but can't do much 'bout dates and stuff. [You're befriending a dumbass, Tessa.]

I'll admit that I prefer reading fiction rather than fact, myself, but it seems-- a good thing to know.

We may as well, if I am truly to get running shoes. [ And clothes. Tessa's last, curse-induced, venture into modern clothes has been lying at the back of her cupboard, never to be looked at again. ]

Perhaps so. I prefer knowing, though. [ She doesn't mind that he doesn't know and doesn't care, but oh, she wants to know. ] I prefer being informed. [ It's a good defense. ]

[Tim chuckles a bit.] Lemme grab a quick shower and we'll go. [He won't push for the clothes. He just might mention it'd be easier for her to run in but it's her decision. He comes inside the youth center now, clattering up the stairs to the room he stays in toward the shower. Yeah he'll leave the device on, tastefully (for Tessa's sake) turned toward the wall so she doesn't see him stripping and getting in the shower.]

Yeah, that's kinda your sorta thing. Besides, smart chicks are sexy. [They usually don't pay much attention to him but they're sexy.]

Of course. [ It's a good thing the device is turned to the wall. It means Tim can't see her blushing. ]

And you consider me smart? [ She's not fishing for compliments. She's honestly surprised. Of course, she knows that she's not stupid, but-- no one's ever really called her smart. ]

[He wouldn't understand why she was blushing if he did.]

Yeah. You read books and shit. [His voice is echo-y in the shower and yes that is Tim's definition of smart.]

[ More blushing. He's talking to her. While he's in the shower. Presumably naked. ]

You have listened to me read. Does that not make you smart as well then, by that definition?

[Absolutely naked. Who takes a shower any other way?]

Nah 'cause you know all the words you're readin'. I'm just sittin' and listenin'. Even dogs do that.

[ For Tessa's sanity and virtue, she'll not think about that. At all. Thank you very much. ]

I've been trying to jog daily. I don't have a set route but if you ever want someone to jog with, let me know.

[He pauses a second.] Not too early in the mornin'.

Usually not until about 9 AM. That's not too early, is it?

Nah, I can usually do that.

I usually just stick to the side walks. Run in a big sorta square. Sometimes I'll go to the park.
